Advances in the use, conservation and management of building energy are expected to have a big impact on overall energy consumption. An EaSE Graduate Option Program specialization in Energy and Sustainability in the Built Environment provides students with knowledge and skills in building energy systems and understanding how to meet the objectives of the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) program sponsored by the U.S. Green Building Council. Topics range from environmental control to sustainable housing, and energy usage and management.
Two courses from one of the four sets listed here will satisfy the specialization requirements.
ME 400: Energy Conversion Systems
ME 401: Refrigeration and Cryogenics
ME 402: Design of Thermal Systems
ME 502: Thermal Systems
ME 520: Heat Conduction
ME 521: Convective Heat Transfer
ME 522: Thermal Radiation
